Cher discusses her Oscar outfits in upcoming interwiev with "The Hollywood Reporter."

In an interview that can be seen in their 1st March issue, Cher has talked with 'The Hollywood Reporter' about the usually-extravagant and sometimes-iconic outfits she has sported on the Academy Awards red carpet!

Here's what they've offered as a sample on their website: "It turns out Cher - pop star, provocateur, Oscar-winning actress - definitely knew what she was doing when she strutted (no, owned) the red carpets the years she attended the Academy Awards in those theatrical, controversial Bob Mackie creations. What other Oscar outfits do we remember better, or at all? Her flamboyant feathers, beads and bare midriff are the stuff of legend. When fashion pundits and trade pubs like WWD bemoan the lack of creativity on Oscar night, it often is followed by a sigh of nostalgia for the heady, fearless days of Cher.

Her Oscar outfits ("I was dressing to go to work - presenting is work," she explains) from the 1970s to her most recent gig in 2000 did not have to face today's critical cacophony of the Internet, but even if they did, "I would do exactly what I wanted to, no matter what." Sighs Cher: "I mean, I thought we were in show business. People can say I dressed like a fool, I don't have good taste. It's not about good or bad clothes; it's about freedom. People in our business do things that are out of the ordinary, so why seek approval? God knows every one of them has enough money to wear what they want!"

Reminding her that many actresses get paid a hundred grand or more to wear major-but-often-bland European couture makes her laugh. "Good on 'em," says the superstar, who will appear in April as a guest programmer on TCM for a new Friday night show, 'Women in Film'.

Decades before designers, media and stylists held sway over what A-listers wore - when it was cooler to make a statement than to avoid the worst-dressed list - Cher reigned on a less conventional red carpet. "I remember men in velvet, even color. I would think young women now would want to get crazier. Of course, I came from the music world," recalls Cher, whose dating history, including David Geffen and younger man Rob Camilletti, raised as many eyebrows as how little she wore. "You know what I say? If you want to look the same as everyone else, you should be going to the Seatback Convention - not the Oscars."

Here's what Cher had to say about a number of her Oscar outfits:

Cher at the 1974 Academy AwardsCher: "I was presenting with Sonny. That was pants and a chiffon-y top - Bob Mackie made it out of beads. I hadn't worn it yet for 'The Sonny & Cher Comedy Show'. We were presenting to Marvin Hamlisch, and I called him the wrong name! I couldn't read the cards; I was dyslexic. And he didn't even seem upset! No one took the pomp all that seriously then."

Cher at the 1983 Academy AwardsCher: "In '80, Val Kilmer and I had just started dating. We're still friends; he came to my house for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. That dress was pretty tame for me, although it was see-through. I weighed 108, so I could pretty much wear anything. That's what Bob told me all the time - that I was a big Barbie doll."

Cher at the 1984 Academy AwardsCher: "I went with Val when I was nominated for 'Silkwood' - my first Oscar nomination. That was a plain-beaded dress Bob Mackie made me, but it was so beautifully made. Someday he'll get the recognition he deserves, He made a lot of these dresses for me in a week because he had a dress figure in my shape in his studio. That night, I had braces on. It was a little awkward. I was trying to straighten my teeth" I don't think too many people realize that from the photos."

Cher at the 1986 Academy AwardsCher: "Oh, yeah, the Mohawk year. You don't have to like it - I liked it. I didn't get a nomination for 'Mask', and everyone said it was because I didn't dress like a serious actress. Well, I did not get that pamphlet! I wanted to be a member of the Academy, but I could not be a member of the Academy and not belong to myself. I was more interested in having a good time . You have to be voted in by someone, and after 'Silkwood' and 'Mask', eventually I was... The hair may have been distracting but the dress was all cashmere. It was a piece of art, a truly beautiful thing. Another thing about that night; I had one blue eye and one brown eye - one contact lens. I've never told anyone that before. It seemed like a good idea at the time."

Cher at the 1988 Academy AwardsCher: "That was the year I won for Moonstruck. Bob made a beautiful dress, and I had this hairdo by Renate Leuschner — I think I actually wore my own hair that night. The way it would work with Bob is that I would go to his studio and say, 'I would like to do this,' and he’d say, 'OK, let me see how I can interpret this.' He might give me three versions. With this, he wanted it to look like the beads were on me, not the fabric. I was dating Josh Donen, and I kept saying to him, 'No matter what I wear, will you be OK with me?' He kept saying, 'Yes, sweetheart.' Oscar night, I walked out in my outfit, and I thought he was going to pass out. We got there, and his father, Stanley Donen, said: 'Josh, what a girl! You gotta give it to her!' Then Josh was OK ... When Jane Fonda saw me, she just laughed like crazy."

Cher at the 1989 Academy AwardsCher: "I had won the year before, so this time I was presenting best actor. I was with Rob Camilletti. It was a little short dress, a corset top and swingy skirt, with fishnets and Valentino pumps that I wore till they fell apart. Was it irreverent that I wore a short dress to the Oscars? I don’t think that’s so important. It’s like you can’t wear patent leather after a certain month, you have to cut your hair after a certain age — who are those people who get to tell you what to do? I think I've been doing what I want for so long that when it comes to clothing, it doesn't even occur to me to do anything else. You dress because it makes you feel and look good; you don't dress to fit in."

Cher at the 2000 Academy AwardsCher: "Bob made this black velvet dress with a cross hanging off an Elizabethan-style waist belt and rhinestone straps that came up over the shoulders. Elizabeth Courtney, a famous costumer, did my fittings till she passed. She'd made Marlene Dietrich's gowns. One night I saw this woman in their studio cleaning out the refrigerator, and I asked who it was, and Bob said, 'Dietrich.' I was about as subtle as an elephant trying to get a better look at her. But I couldn't introduce myself — you could tell she wasn't up for that."

Cher Has Listed Hollywood Condominium Unit For $5.5 Million

Cher is selling her West Hollywood condominium unit for $5.5 million.

Cher purchased a luxury 4,000-square-foot condominium unit in West Hollywood's 32-story Sierra Towers for $4.5 million in early 2006 from seller Ian Vincent Gallo - who sold several units in the building at the time.

Seven years later, and after a major redesign, the 66-year-old star has listed the one-bedroom unit for $5.5 million - $1 million more than she purchased it for.

Sierra Towers boasts an impressive list of current and former residents including Sir Elton John, Joan Collins, 'Friends' stars Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox and Cher's ex-boyfriend and longtime friend David Geffen. However, 'TMZ' - who seemingly first reported the news of the listed property - said that Cher's unit is the only two-storey one in the entire building.

The online publication also reported that the listed unit, located in the top-half of the celebrity-packed building, also comes with "an outdoor terrace, 24-hour concierge service, a gym, pool, sun deck and breathtaking panoramic views".

Cher's Reaction To New (Unofficial) 'Woman's World' Remix! Plus Is Her New Album Finished Or Not

any unofficial remixes of Cher's upcoming single 'Woman's World' have surfaced on the internet in the past few months, but one of the latest ones has managed to catch Cher's attention - and this one certainly has her seal of approval. She tweeted, "You should listen to Mz Poppinz's remix of 'Woman's World' on YouTube. It's truly superb!"Although the 66-year-old was slightly puzzled at how the DJ had managed to get her hands on the song's audio track to make the remix; "I don't know how she got the vocals only?"Cher surprisingly made the rare move of commenting on the remix on YouTube, letting on that she had listened to the remix multiple times; "I had to hear it just one more time! You're rockin' it with those strings Mz".

oving on slightly but not completely: right now, we're all hoping that Cher's upcoming album will be released in March - as previously stated by a spokesperson for her record label. However, many fans have estimated that the album will actually be released in April, or even May. Some of these estimations could be right as Cher has revealed that she has received a handful of new songs to record - either for the actual album or as bonus tracks.

Commenting, whilst on another return to the aforementioned YouTube video, Cher wrote, "CD is almost finished, but I just got 3 great new songs! I hope one is right for kick-ass violinist [Mz Poppinz] do kick-ass solo!"
Although she confused many when she quickly went on to write, "Actually it is finished, but a great song cannot be denied! It grabs you around the heart and says, 'Bitch! Sing me!'"
'
On Twitter, she wrote, "F**k! These songs refuse to go unsung! I love them so much that I couldn't bear not recording them! OK, so a few extra bonus tracks!"

CHER IS PERFOMING AT NEXT YEARS GRAMMY CERMONY

Cher will be performing at next year's 'Grammy Awards'!

If it was up to us fans, Cher would be performing at this year's 'Grammy Awards' - which will take place very soon on 10 February. Although if it was up to us fans, Cher would be performing at every single music awards show around the globe.

The seemingly-ageless songstress won't be performing at this year's 'Grammy Awards' but has revealed that she will be performing at next year's ceremony! One of her Twitter followers wrote, "I wish that Cher was performing at 'The Grammy Awards'". Cher replied, in all-capitals, "NEXT YEAR!"

By then, Cher will have released her 26th solo studio album, and hopefully a handful of singles from it, including the album's first, 'Woman's World' - which is expected to have it video premiere before this month's end! So not only will Cher be performing at the '56th Annual Grammy Awards' next year, she'll hopefully be collecting an award or two - to put alongside her current sole(!) Grammy Award, which she won for her 1998 single 'Believe'.

Popular artists who will be performing at this year's 'Grammy Awards' include Adele, Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, Elton John, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Taylor Swift.

MORE DETAILS ABOUT WW MUSIC VIDEO

Cher
Thanks to Twitter, we now know a few more details about the 'Woman's World' music video.

Popular choreographer, Brian Friedman (@brianfriedman) - whose notable works include the Britney Spears videos 'Hold It Against Me' and 'Toxic' - tweeted very early this morning, "It's a wrap! I am so incredibly in awe of the magic and brilliance that is Cher. What an icon. Thank you for this adventure".

An hour ago, he tweeted, "Still gagging over getting to spend the day choreographing and working with the incomparable Cher yesterday!"

A stylist named Heather Montagna (@MsHeatherTweets) tweeted about her involvement in the video a number of times.

A couple of days ago, she wrote, "Yay! I'm working with my homies at 'Rock Hard' today on a new music video and shoot for the one and only Cher! Life is good."

She tweeted to Cher, "Yay! I cannot wait. You are going to look amazing and rock the house! I'm so excited to be working with you."

After the last tweet, the stylist uploaded a photograph for the price of an outfit, writing, "The price for one outfit..."

receipt of a dress that was to be featured in Cher's 'Woman's World' music video

It was later confirmed (you'll see below) that this receipt was definitely for a Cher outfit for the video.

Straight after, she uploaded a photo of a dress, writing, "This dress is made completely out of gift cards". It is unknown if this dress is for Cher's video.

Will this dress make a n appearance in the video?

19 hours ago - during the time of the shoot, she tweeted, "Cher looks absolutely amazing! I'm so excited for this video, 'Woman's World'. Be sure to download the song." Oh, don't worry Heather, we will definitelybe doing that when the chance comes!

A few hours later, Montagnma tweeted to a make-up artist, Erika Melody (@MissErikaMelody), "Great seeing you today dude! Let's hang soon for sure". Given the timing of this tweet, it seems likely that Erika Melody was a make-up artist on the 'Woman's World' video.

13 hours ago, when the video shoot was nearing its end, Montagna tweeted, "If I was working this late with anyone but Cher, I would probably kill somebody. Two more looks and approximately three hours to go!"

After a short sleep, Montagna returned to Twitter six hours ago, saying, "I slept like a sweet baby. Now off to work with Cher again today!" A later tweet confirmed that they are still working on the video, for a second day.

Fellow Cher site 'Cher Brasil' (@SiteCherBrasil) tweeted about the receipt in the above photograph, "Cher outfit? $59,000? Oh my God!" To which Montagna replied, "Isn't it disgusting? I returned it and made something much better."
