'While the long wait continues for Cher's new album (Due september 2013),
fans will be able to get a dose of the icon next month on Turner Classic Movies (TCM)
Cher will join veteran host Robert osbourne (who Cher describes as her boy to on twitter)
for the first edition of "Friday Night Spotlight" a new series she will help launch April 5th 2013.
Cher has hand picked 17 films to fit the theme: "A Womans World: The Defining Era Of Women In Film." which ties in nicely to her first single on her new album.
Cher chose films which highlight the evolving roles of women from the late 1930s to the early 1950s, starting at 8 p.m. April 5 with 1945’s Joan Crawford-starring “Mildred Pierce.” Other films that are selected include “So Proudly We Hail,” and “The White Cliffs of Dover” on April 13, “His Girl Friday,” “The Devil and Miss Jones” on April 19 and “The Great Lie,” “Kitty Foyle,” “The Palm Beach Story” and “The Women” on April 26.
Cher had this to say about her collaboration with good friend Robert Osborne, “Working with Robert isn’t like working at all! We can’t stop taking about the classics and obscure golden oldies. We talk though the breaks while they move the cameras, check the lighting and do the touch-ups. I can’t stop when it comes to the subject of old films, and then I get Robert going, and then the crew and director finally say, ‘Ahh, Cher? We have a show to do.’ Robert and I laugh and become gown-ups again,”.
As Cher has already told fans on twitter the shows have already been taped in L.A. so stay tuned to Turner Classic movies to see Cher in all her glory.
