RedOne says working with Lady Gaga and Cher on their duet was a ‘party’.
The producer teamed up with the pair on their highly anticipated track, which Cher confirmed in August. He explained The Greatest Thing was actually recorded by Gaga several years ago, but Cher loved it when she heard it.Gaga was initially happy for the iconic singer to work on the song on her own, before RedOne suggested it might be duet material.
‘ cut the vocals with Cher first, and I was in Madrid and got a text from Gaga saying, ‘I’m thinking about jumping on the song in the remix,’” he told MTV News. “I was like, ‘No, you should jump on the original! Make it a duet.’ She said, ‘Oh yes, OK, absolutely,’ and then I spoke to Cher, and it became a party.
“Everybody loved it. Gaga on it, Cher, two big icons, [they are] part of music history. So it happened. I’m very happy to be a part of this.”
Cher has said The Greatest Thing will be out this month, but it’s still not known exactly when. RedOne is staying tight-lipped about when it will hit airwaves, but is convinced it’ll be a big hit.
For the producer, simply getting the opportunity to meet Cher was enthralling. He’s been a big fan of hers for years and was overcome with emotion when he realised she wanted to work with him.
‘ remember my management and Cher’s management were trying to get us together, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’d love to meet Cher, just to meet her!’ And so I met her, I played her some songs, and I played her The Greatest Thing, and she loved it. She said, ‘This is my song,’ I said, ‘Yes, it’s your song,” he recalled.

Cher cried after watching chaz on dancing with the stars

No, she didn’t cry because he was bad. Chaz Bono says his mother, pop diva/actress Cher, got emotional after his “Dancing With the Stars” performance because she was so proud of her son.

Chatting with the hosts of “The Talk” on Wednesday, Bono said of Cher, “She was so proud. She cried when she saw it. She’s been so supportive, and I’ve been having really bad problems with my knees and ankles, and she sent somebody over to work on me last night, which was really great because I do need all the help I can get at this point.”Bono also said his mom will probably attend a taping of the show later in the season, and was “shocked” by how well he did, because, “I’m just not known as the performer guy in the family.”

Bono, the only child of Cher and Sonny Bono, was born a female but underwent gender-reassignment surgery last year. When ABC announced earlier this week that he would compete, some conservative “Dancing With the Stars” fans lashed out on Internet message boards.

But Bono, appearing on “The Talk” with his “DWTS” professional dance partner Lacey Schwimmer, said he thinks those viewers overreacted.

“I think kids are really smart and very open minded, and so if you just explain things to them in an open way, they’re usually very understanding about it,” he said.

“I think the longer I stay on, the more I can help my community,” Bono told “The Talk” hosts. “So I would love to win it, but really I’m going to take it one show at a time and try to do my best and hope that I can stay on as long as possible, but I’m having a great time.”

Cher is to make a surprise appearance on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to support her son Chaz Bono.The ‘Believe’ hitmaker hasn’t confirmed which show she will attend, but has made it clear she will be in the audience for at lease one episode to make “a statement” against negative attitudes towards her transgender son.
According to TMZ.com, the singer is not hoping to drive votes for Chaz – who was born a female named Chastity and began gender reassignment surgery around three years ago – but show her support against “what she considers to be bigotry”.Cher has reportedly become even more determined to appear on the show in the wake of criticism that Chaz’s involvement with ‘Dancing with the Stars’ could be “confusing” for children.However, the 42-year-old activist recently stood up to these claims, saying he is just a “normal guy” who could have a “positive impact” on young people suffering from gender dysphoria.
He explained: “I’m just a regular guy. All these ideas that children shouldn’t watch me because I’m going to be confusing, all of this stuff, it’s crazy and for all of the kids and teens out there with gender dysphoria, I think it’s going to have a really positive impact.
“I know that if when I was growing up I would have seen someone like me on a show like this it would have made all the difference in the world in my life.
“It’s a much bigger deal to everyone else than it is to me. People who don’t have gender dysphoria aren’t going to catch it by watching me dance on television.”

Cher comes to TCM as Guest Programmer on Wednesday, Sept. 7
Oscar®-winning actress and entertainer Cher, who counts herself among Turner Classic Movies’ most devoted fans, will present four of her favorite films as TCM’s Guest Programmer for September. “The love of my life from the time I can remember has been movies,” she tells TCM host Robert Osborne during the introductions to the movies. She also confesses that whenever she enters a hotel room, the first thing she does is “click the TV until I see TCM.”

The four films Cher chose for her night as Guest Programmer are movies she has always loved, but which aren’t seen very often:

8 p.m. (ET) – Follow the Fleet (1936) – Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers teamed up for the sixth time in this delightful farce about two sailors on leave who romance a dance-hall girl and her prim sister. Randolph Scott plays Astaire’s sailor buddy while Harriet Hilliard (later known as Harriet Nelson) is Rogers’ sister. Among the many highlights are the Irving Berlin classics “Let’s Face the Music and Dance” “Let Yourself Go,” “I’m Putting All My Eggs in One Basket” “Get Thee Behind Me Satan” and the hilarious opening number, “We Saw the Sea.” Future stars Betty Grable and Lucille Ball also show up in small roles.

10 p.m. (ET) – Hobson’s Choice (1954) – Charles Laughton, whom Cher calls a “consummate actor,” stars in this light-hearted film as a Victorian widower trying to keep his headstrong daughters in line. Directed by David Lead, the movie co-stars Brenda De Banzie, Daphne Anderson and Prunella Scales as the daughters and John Mills as Laughton’s unappreciated employee. Cher chose this winner of the 1954 British Academy Award because, “It’s a movie about hope.”

Midnight (ET) – The Big Street (1942) – This rare Damon Runyon love story stars Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda about a busboy and his relationship with a heartless singer. Cher considers this film a favorite because it gives Lucille Ball a chance to prove “she had the chops to be a dramatic actress.” The cast also includes Agnes Moorehead in her third screen role, following Citizen Kane (1941) and her Oscar-nominated performance in The Magnificent Ambersons (1942).

1:45 a.m. (ET) – Lady of Burlesque (1943) – Cher closes out the night with this Barbara Stanwyck mystery about the murder of two strippers in a New York burlesque theater. The story is based on the novel The G-String Murders, written by legendary strip-tease artist Gypsy Rose Lee. Cher says the combination of Stanwyck’s sparkling performance and “lots of strippers hanging out” makes this movie “a perfect storm of happiness.”
